Upholding the public confidence and trust remains the highest priority in police service. As your police chief, i expect and demand that the team members of the Tarpon Springs Police Department will serve and protect our community with integrity, professionalism, quality creativity and accountability. We have dedicated ourselves to continuously achieving a higher level of

excellence in the services that we provide.

Cooperative partnership with surrounding law enforcement agencies, our business districts, visitors, residents, and our government provide the foundation for our capability and efforts to reduce crime and improve the quality of life. An accreditation program has long been recognized as a means of maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. In February 2013, the Tarpon Springs Police Department was awarded accreditation by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement. Quality training is a keystone for workforce education and readiness. Our officers maintain and improve their skills by consistently practicing and training within scenarios that simulate real life high stress conditions. The most knowledgeable and tactically proficient officers were recruited to serve as our in-service trainers. Forfeiture funds seized from felons, instead of citizen’s tax dollars, are utilized when possible to purchase and equip officers with the latest technology in weapons, protective gear and an armored personnel vehicle. Our police force has a fully trained and equipped Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team. Forfeiture funds were also used to purchase and equip our Mobile Incident Command Vehicle. The Mobile Command Vehicle is utilized to respond and manage any crisis or special situation that requires cooperation from various stakeholders and/or agencies. In addition, we are dedicated to the children in our community. Law enforcement research indicates that if a community is serious about reducing crime, it is critical to pay attention to , safeguard and support the children in the community.

Tarpon Spring Police has two School Resource Officers (SRO's) in our High School, and one in our Middle School and an officer assigned to each of our three elementary schools.

Our SRO program has achieved state recognition. The Cops N'" Kids Youth Center provides an after school and summer program for at risk children to receive help with homework, learn important life skills, and play within a safe environment. Tarpon Springs Police Officers visit our elementary schools each month to building positive relationship and provide crime prevention and personal safety information to students in grades K-2. We will remain relentless in our endeavors to fulfill our vision of building a better future through excellence in policing. I would like to invite you to spend some time on our website and learn more about our staff, programs and the commitment that we demonstrate each day to make the Tarpons Springs community a safer place to live, work, visit and play. Feel free to contact us if you need additional services and thank you for visiting our website.
