 Employment opportunities

Community based policing remains one of the most important philosophies of the police department. We expect EVERY officer to participate in our partnership with the community. We encourage officers to build positive relationships with children, business owners, visitors and residents.

The salary range for patrol is currently $40,509.66-$64,297.18. If an officer has prior law enforcement experience, the starting salary is negotiable. The pension is a “Defined Benefit Plan” with the officers contributing 8%. Officers are vested after 10 years of service (accrue 3% per year).

Applicants must have a current file with the Police Applicant Screening Service (PASS) located at St Pete College Allstate Center. The applicant must meet PASS minimum standards. PASS web site address: www.policestandards.org

Phone 727-864-3822

The PASS educational requirement (60 college credits) may be waived in lieu of military or prior law enforcement experience.

Applicants must be Florida State Certified as a Law Enforcement Officer.
